By Doolittle Ryting
The mind-numbing saga of the Mayor-elect of Toronto, John Tory, has been masterfully documented for the first time
in Crazy Town Two, a new book by creative
journalist Doolittle Ryting.
Many political observers say they didn't think Tory's pending mayoral career could be
fodder for a book given his life-long avoidance of drugs, sex, and
gangsters. Yet the Mayor elect's insipidness has attracted special interest with the discovery of an expected-to-be infamous cellphone
video of Tory in his office.
Tory and his mob of Dull Nation followers denied the existence
of the video for many hours today insisting that the shaky image was merely a
pixilated photo of the Mayor. Even
now, Tory backers continue to insist that the video and the still image are
one and the same.
Ryting admits to being unsure about the authenticity of the video himself. He thinks that he may have found it when searching the Internet for sleeping aids last night. Given the speed at which Ryting’s book was
turned out, it is surprising that he had time to do any research, even
Googling.
Although difficult to discern why, the author has divided the story into
two parts: First Day after the election and Second Day. But the format works for this story, capturing
the drama such as it is.
