Come celebrate the birthday of the notorious political operative and writer Niccolò Machiavelli at the launch of a new book that satirizes Machiavelli’s best known work "Il Principe - The Prince."  The Prince is an influential and enduring treatise on politics and government that helped frame the modern world's perception of politics and governing as cynical and bloody minded arts.
Ottawa humorist Dick Bourgeois-Doyle’s "Il Principio - The Principle" (Stubbornbooks 2012) pays tribute to that book and its coming 500th anniversary in 2013 with a collection of stories that echo Machiavelli's manner and era with satire applied to today's current events and issues. Under the pseudonym "Piccolò Mochiavelli" (Little mock of Machiavelli), Bourgeois-Doyle also pokes fun at the Italian philosopher and the presumption that he had it all figured out.
It is the second in a satirical series that includes the tale of a quixotic government administrator:"The Most Strategic, Integrated and Aligned Servant of the Public Don Quincy de la Mangement."  The author will be on hand to sign both books and hand out Machiavellian birthday cake.
